As the Jewish community of Northeast Ohio and around the world marks the observance of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, I join my sincere best wishes with those of the clergy, religious and laity of the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland for our Jewish brothers and sisters as you dip hallah or a slice of apple at your festive meals praying along with you, "May it be the Lord's will to renew for us a year that will be good and sweet."

Echoing a sentiment of Pope Francis, I hope that Jews and Christians, growing in respect and mutual friendship, may bear witness to the world of the values that spring from the adoration of the one God.

Wishing our brothers and sisters in the Jewish community, "Shanah Tovah," a good year to all!

 +Most Reverend Nelson J. Perez
 Bishop of Cleveland
