Catholic Schools Week 2019 - Catholic Education: A Foundation for Success

News of the Diocese

January 10, 2019

Over the next four weeks, the Northeast Ohio Catholic e-newsletter will feature a story on Catholic schools as the Diocese of Cleveland prepares to join students, parents, educators and alumni across the country in celebration of Catholic Schools Week.

Catholic Schools Week will take place Jan. 27 to Feb 2. It will focus on why Catholic schools are important and what makes them a quality choice for parents and guardians.

“Nearly 6,500 Catholic schools across the country will participate in activities within their parishes, schools and neighborhoods during Catholic Schools Week. The week embraces academic excellence, faith development in our youth and young adults, and support from our communities. Here in Northeast Ohio we are dedicated to showcasing the Catholic school difference in our own diocese and highlighting why Catholic schools matter,” said Frank O’Linn, interim superintendent of schools for the Diocese of Cleveland.

The 2019 theme is “Catholic Schools Transform Lives: Excellent. Welcoming. Affordable.” It encompasses the shared qualities of what makes Catholic schools work and students succeed.

“Not only are we teaching students to become future servant leaders, faith-filled disciples and enriched citizens in our communities, educators are growing with them. In Catholic schools, we are all learners, servants and leaders. That is a part of the dynamic for success,” shares O’Linn.

The January/February issue of Northeast Ohio Catholic magazine is dedicated to sharing stories about how Catholic schools transform lives. The cover story, “Catholic Education: A Foundation for Success,” features four alumni from schools across the diocese. Each shares the impact a Catholic education made in his or her life and the takeaways that guide them in their successful careers today.

The months of January and February are a flurry of activity for Catholic schools. Open houses, peer visit days and registration events will occur. To view a listing of open houses CLICK HERE.
