During this special week of prayer for Christian unity during which we call to mind our brothers and sisters in Christ, we take part remembering the prayer of Jesus, “That they all may be one.”

The theme of this year’s observance is taken from the Book of Deuteronomy, “Justice, only justice, you shall pursue.” By virtue of our common baptism, all Christians share in the prophetic mission of Jesus to proclaim good news to the poor and the weak in both words and deeds. As we pray together this week, we are reminded that our calling as members of the body of Christ includes the pursuit of justice. May our unity in Christ give us the vision and courage to take part in the ongoing wider struggle for justice and to promote the dignity of life.
