It is with great joy that I welcomed the Holy Father’s decision to appoint Bishop Brennan as the next bishop of the Diocese of Columbus.
Seven years ago, Bishop Brennan and I were ordained as bishops together. We also worked together as auxiliary bishops of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, New York and now we will be serving in neighboring dioceses.
Bishop Brennan brings to his new diocese vast administrative experience and skill, a wonderful priestly heart, and a deep pastoral passion to serve the Church tirelessly. The priests, deacons, religious and faithful of the Diocese of Columbus will very quickly see what a blessing they have in Bishop Brennan.
I also take this opportunity to express my best wishes to Bishop Frederick Campbell who has served the Diocese of Columbus with great love and commitment for the past 14 years. I know that he will be a source of great wisdom and support for Bishop Brennan.
The Diocese of Cleveland welcomes Bishop Brennan to Ohio with great enthusiasm. On a more personal note, I am absolutely thrilled and grateful to God for his appointment to the Diocese of Columbus. May God continue to bless Bishop Brennan has he begins this new chapter in his episcopal ministry.
