“I am excited to welcome the Culture Project International missionaries to the Diocese of Cleveland as part of our comprehensive effort and commitment to deepen our resolve to provide solid formation and education for our young people on the importance of self-respect and living chaste lives,” said Bishop Nelson Perez.
“I am confident that the efforts of the Culture Project missionaries will complement our new Theology of the Body K-8 curriculum, which will be introduced to all venues of faith formation beginning in the fall of 2019,” he added.
The bishop said the Culture Project is an initiative of young people set out to restore culture through the experience of virtue. The Culture Project proclaims the dignity of the human person and the richness of living sexual integrity, inviting our culture to become fully alive.
Five young adult missionaries from the Culture Project will be coming to minister in the diocese to educate and witness to the youth and young adults of the local Church about the dignity of every human life, and the freedom and beauty of living virtue and authentic love. Their presentations and message are rooted in Catholic Social Teaching and the teachings from St. John Paul II.
“We are blessed to welcome the Culture Project to the Diocese of Cleveland and look forward to working in collaboration to help our young people make good, solid, faith filled decisions in their lives. I encourage you to invite the missionaries to your school, parish or youth/young adult program,” Bishop Perez said.
The Culture Project, which is based near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, recruits young adult missionaries who make a commitment of at least one year to live and pray in community, receive formation and also are sent out on mission nationally and internationally. They give presentations to youth about the dignity of the human person and about sexual integrity.
Since its founding in 2014, Culture Project team members have given more than 3,200 talks, participated in nearly 950 school and community events and encountered more than 155,000 students.
“I ask for your prayerful support for this new endeavor. Please join me in welcoming the Culture Project missionaries to our wonderful diocese,” Bishop Perez said.
