Faithful of all ages gathered at noon on Good Friday, April 19, at Sagrada Familia Parish on Cleveland’s West Side to pray and reflect on the passion and death of Jesus.
After an opening prayer, the group walked through the church hall and trampled the Carpets of Holy Week, elaborate artworks created from colored sawdust. The carpets covered the floor of the hall. Groups began working on their carpets on Palm Sunday and the public was invited to view them on Holy Thursday and Good Friday morning.
After walking through the carpets, the procession, which included Bishop Nelson Perez, processed through the streets of Cleveland singing and praying. The procession stopped at St. Colman and St. Michael the Archangel parishes for prayer services before disbanding at St. Michael’s.
