I add my voice to that of Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, condemning the horrific violence that claimed so many lives as terrorists attacked churches and hotels in the country of Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday, the most holy day of the year for Christians around the world. We are reminded by these attacks of the evil that exists in our world today.
I ask all people of good will to join with me in prayer for those who died, those who were injured and their families. We also remember all Sri Lankans – including those in our diocese – in prayer during this difficult time.
As Cardinal DiNardo said, “This evil cannot overcome the hope found in our Savior’s resurrection. May the God of hope, who has raised his son, fill all hearts with the desire for peace.”
