Religious sisters from Christ the Bridegroom Monastery in Burton (Byzantine) and the Mercedarian Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament in Cleveland gathered on April 27 at the Center for Pastoral Leadership for an evening of recreation, fellowship and prayer. They were guests of the seminarians at Borromeo and Saint Mary seminaries in Wickliffe.
This was the second year the seminarians invited the sisters to their campus for the event. The two groups of religious women often invite seminarians to their respective homes for prayer and fellowship, so the seminarians decided to take a turn playing host.
The evening began with a couple hours of sports at the CPL field house. Some of the participants showed off their foot skills by playing kickball in the large gym while others practiced team work by playing volleyball in the back gym. The teams had an even distribution of both seminarians and sisters.
After recreation time, they gathered in Resurrection Chapel to pray Evening Prayer, honoring their commitment to the Liturgy of the Hours. Then they gathered in the CPL refectory for dinner prepared by the CPL kitchen staff.
After dinner, the group moved to the Caske & Crosse, the basement lounge space at the seminary. The group had refreshments and snacks to munch on while enjoying each other’s company and a performance by magician Mark Cook. He entertained all with card tricks and other magic feats.
