Marriage is one of the most sacred relationships and the golden -- 50th-- anniversary is one of the most-celebrated wedding anniversaries for married couples, their families and friends. The Diocese of Cleveland will honor the union and faith-filled commitment of couples marking their 50th wedding anniversaries by celebrating the gift of married life with them during a special liturgy this fall.
The Golden Wedding Anniversary Mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, on East 9th Street and Superior Avenue in downtown Cleveland. Bishop Nelson J. Perez will be the celebrant and homilist.
Registration is open and must be completed through the online process.
Each year approximately 600 parishioners from across the eight-county diocese fill the cathedral as 300 registered couples renew their marriage vows and pray for God’s continued blessing over their long-lasting love.
The Mass is for couples living in the diocese who were married in 1969. Couples celebrating other significant anniversaries (55 years or more), or those who missed previous celebrations also are invited to attend.
This Mass is coordinated by the Marriage and Family Office and the Office for Worship. For questions regarding the anniversary Mass, email or call 216-334-2974. Registration will be accepted through Sept. 16.
