Monica Dietz has been selected to serve as the assistant superintendent of Schools for the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland, Office of Catholic Education.
Dietz, a career Catholic educator who has served as principal at St. Bernadette school in Westlake since 2016, will join the leadership team overseeing Catholic schools serving more than 40,000 students across the diocese. Her duties will include supporting principals who foster faith formation and academic growth, enhancing high quality instructional practice, pursuing continuous improvement among Catholic schools, and collaborating across the diocesan system to further the mission of Catholic education.
Dietz earned her Masters of Education degree from John Carroll University and her Bachelor of Science in Education from Bowling Green State University. She is an experienced educator in both Catholic elementary and high schools, teaching English at Elyria Catholic High School and St. Richard School before joining school leadership at St. Gabriel School as assistant principal in 2013.
“Monica is an exceptional instructional leader,” said Dr. Frank W. O’Linn, Secretary for Catholic Education and Superintendent of Schools for the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland. “A hallmark of her leadership has been teacher collaboration focused on student outcomes, using the results of student assessments to help deliver on the promise of holistic growth that is the mission of Catholic education.”
“I look forward to collaborating with school leaders as we all work to support the mission of our schools, specifically helping our students become disciples of Jesus Christ in an academically rigorous learning environment where every student has the opportunity to grow,” said Dietz.
Dietz lives in Avon Lake with her husband Jason and their two sons, George and Sam, where they belong to St. Joseph Parish.
