Bishop Martin Amos, bishop emeritus of Davenport, will celebrate the funeral Mass for Deacon James C. Vincent at 10 a.m. July 6 at St. Michael Church, 6540 Brecksville Road, Independence. Father John Mullee, St. Michael’s pastor, will be the homilist.
The wake will begin at 3 p.m. July 5 with vespers at St. Michael Church. Presider will be Father Donald Oleksiak and Deacon Kenneth Knight will be the homilist. The wake will continue until 8 p.m.
Deacon Vincent, 69, died on June 28.
Survivors include his wife, Michelle (Mate), children and grandchildren.
He was ordained to the permanent diaconate for service to the Diocese of Cleveland by Bishop Anthony Pilla on May 18, 1996 in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.
Deacon Vincent was assigned to St. Peter the Apostle Parish in Brook Park. On June 1, 2001, he was assigned to serve at St. Michael, Independence. In addition, Deacon Vincent served as parish life coordinator of St. Peter the Apostle Parish from Sept. 28, 2001 until Feb. 11, 2002.
He is remembered as always ready to help anyone in need. His kindness to people and his faithful service will be missed by many.
Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery, Northfield.
