Sold-Out Alleluia Ball Will Introduce A New Funding Initiative For Catholic Education in Northeast Ohio

Press Releases

October 2, 2019

A sold-out crowd of nearly 1,000 people will be the first to hear details of a new funding initiative for Catholic education that will be introduced this Saturday, October 5 at the 2019 Alleluia Ball, taking place at the Hilton Downtown Cleveland. Funds raised that evening, expected to top $1 million, will support Diocesan Tuition Assistance and a new “Fund A Dream” initiative to be implemented for the 2020-2021 school year. During the current school year, 3,500 students across across the eight county Diocese of Cleveland have benefited from nearly $2.5 million in tuition assistance. The goal of “Fund A Dream” is to provide more families with access to Catholic education.

The Catholic Community Foundation is proud to present this year’s Alleluia Ball, themed ‘Keeping Dreams Alive’ and referring to the dream of Catholic education for students and families in Northeast Ohio who benefit from tuition assistance. Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan, Archbishop of New York, will be the featured speaker. “I am looking forward to joining my friend, Bishop Nelson Perez, and all the wonderful people in the Diocese of Cleveland to celebrate the Alleluia Ball which raises funds for something near and dear to my heart – Catholic education. The Gospel values that Catholic education imparts help to form the hearts and minds of young people in a way that is greatly needed in our world today, and gives great hope to the future of our Church,” says Cardinal Dolan.

Lorraine Dodero, Chair of this year’s Alleluia Ball, is recognized throughout Northeast Ohio for her community service and philanthropic involvement. She is the founder and current president of the Ohio Chapter of the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums. Dodero has been actively leading a dedicated group of volunteers to raise funds for Alleluia Ball that will impact the future of students, their families, and the community.

Bishop Nelson J. Perez, Bishop of Cleveland, states: “The Alleluia Ball has a rich history that invites us to celebrate our Catholic faith and philanthropy. The Ball supports Catholic education, which has always been a great blessing to the Church in Northeast Ohio. Now more than ever, families need access to Catholic education so that children can hear the Christian message and live its values. Your support provides financial resources that directly impact the futures of our students.”

Since its inception, the Alleluia Ball has raised over $7 million to support Catholic schools and families who seek a Catholic education for their children. Information regarding remaining sponsorships and ticket opportunities for this year’s Alleluia Ball can be found HERE.
