Bishop Martin Amos, bishop emeritus of Davenport, will celebrate a funeral Mass with cremains for Deacon Louis G. Pecek at 11 a.m. Nov. 2 at St. Casimir Church, 18022 Neff Road, Cleveland. Father Joseph Bacevice will be the homilist.
Deacon Pecek, 88, died on Oct. 20. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann (Berlon), children and grandchildren.
At the request of the deacon and his family, there will be no vesper service. The wake will be 2-7 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Jakubs and Son Funeral Home, 936 E. 185th St., Cleveland.
Deacon Pecek was ordained to the permanent diaconate for service to the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland by Bishop Anthony Pilla on June 4, 1983 in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.
He was assigned to St. Paul, Euclid. In addition to this assignment, he served as associate judge of the tribunal effective Sept. 21, 1983, and as prosynodal judge of the tribunal effective Nov. 1, 1983. In addition to this assignment, he served as a judge of the tribunal from Sept. 21, 1983 -- including full-time 1996-2001.
On March 19, 1984, he was assigned as master of ceremonies for Bishop A. James Quinn.
Deacon Pecek retired on Nov. 21, 2009.
He was known as a kind and gentle soul who loved his family, friends and diaconal ministry. His humor, kindness and dedicated faithful witness revealed his love of the Lord.
A private interment will take place at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon.
