Auxiliary Bishop emeritus Roger Gries, OSB, will be the main celebrant at the 11 a.m. Feb. 17 funeral Mass at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 5891 Ridge Road, Parma, for Father Ronald B. Tomicky. Father Michael Franz will be the homilist.

The wake for Father Tomicky will be 6-8 p.m. Feb. 16 at Mallchok Funeral Home, 5660 Ridge Road, Parma. At the request of the family, there will be no vespers.

Father Tomicky, 75, died on Feb. 12.

The son of the late Ignacy and Irene (Storc) Tomicky, he was born on April 18, 1944. He was educated at SS. Philip & James School, Cleveland; St. Charles Borromeo School, Parma; St. Michael High School, Cleveland; John Carroll University, University Heights; and Saint Mary Seminary, Cleveland.

Bishop James Hickey ordained Father Tomicky to the priesthood for service to the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland on June 14, 1975 in Holy Family Church, Parma.

His first assignment was as parochial vicar of Annunciation Parish, Akron. On June 24, 1980, he was assigned chaplain of the U.S. Air Force. Father Tomicky was assigned as parochial vicar of St. Joseph Parish, Strongsville on Sept. 19, 1983. He served as co-chaplain, Huron Road and University Hospitals effective March 17, 1987 and on July 15, 1988, he was assigned as resident chaplain, St. John Hospital, Cleveland.

Father Tomicky was granted total and permanent disability retirement on Aug. 11, 1989.

Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park.
