Bill Cervenik to leave Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School

The Catholic Diocese of Cleveland today announced the departure of Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School president Bill Cervenik who had recently requested that he be released from his contract. During his tenure Cervenik was instrumental in bringing positive energy and strategic direction to the school which helped continue to strengthen the organization for the present and the future.

“We are grateful to Bill for his years of service and his deep dedication to the students, faculty and staff, and community of Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School,” said Frank W. O’Linn, Ed.D. Secretary for Education and Superintendent of Schools for the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland. “His vision and selfless dedication have positioned VASJ favorably and set the stage for a continually bright future. Together with the VASJ community, we wish him every success in his future endeavors.”

Principal David Csank will continue the administration of the school during this time of transition.

Cervenik is a 1972 graduate of St. Joseph High School, which merged with Villa Angela Academy to form VASJ in 1990. Under his leadership the school undertook a strategic planning process focusing on the priorities of faith, family, and future which affirmed the school’s mission, and the values and charisms of the sponsoring Marianist and Ursuline orders. Cervenik succeeded Richard Osborne who retired in 2016 after five years as VASJ President.

“VASJ has made great strides in the past four years and it has been my pleasure to work with the communities on these endeavors. VASJ is an essential part of this neighborhood and it is my hope that the school will continue to receive support to thrive well into the future,” said Cervenik.

Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School is a Catholic, diocesan-owned, comprehensive college-preparatory school rooted in the Ursuline and Marianist traditions and committed to the spiritual, academic and personal growth of each student.
