Faithful across America invited to participate in virtual Rosary for America on Oct. 7

Bishops representing various geographical regions of the United States will pray part of the rosary during the Rosary for America, a virtual rosary event beginning at 3 p.m. Oct. 7. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops is hosting the event, which will be live on the USCCB YouTube channel and Facebook page.

Catholics across the eight-county Diocese of Cleveland are invited to join in the virtual rosary.

Los Angeles Archbishop José Gomez, USCCB president, said the event – which will be on the memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary – will be a moment of prayer with the intention of uniting Catholics across the country at a time when there is so much unrest and uncertainty. The Glorious Mysteries will be prayed.

The archbishop encourages the faithful “to join in this prayerful moment of unity for our country, to seek healing and to ask Our Lady, on her feast, to pray for us and help lead us to Jesus.

Archbishop Gomez recently reflected on the Blessed Mother and how we need to seek her intercession for the country, as well as deepening our commitment to her.

"We need to keep getting closer to Mary, we need to enter more deeply into her way of seeing and her way of living. This is the secret of the saints. Everything that Mary does points us to her Son — to his commandments, to the mysteries of his life, to giving up our own will to follow him and share in his mission,” the archbishop said.

Before praying the rosary, participants are encouraged to invite at least one other person to join them, sharing the invitation on social media and using the hashtag #RosaryforAmerica. They also are encouraged to take a photo of their rosary and they can leave a prayer intention for the country. The USCCB will be using #RosaryforAmerica on its social media, also.
