This fall, Northeast Ohio Catholic magazine celebrated its fifth anniversary. However, support of the faithful throughout the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland is needed to help continue its ministry of spreading the good news.
When the coronavirus pandemic hit earlier this year and the world seemed to stop, the diocese continued to reach out to the people of Northeast Ohio, bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ to all. Northeast Ohio Catholic magazine inspired the faithful with messages of God’s love and informational news of the diocese. The September issue celebrated the arrival and installation of Bishop Edward Malesic, 12th bishop of the diocese. The magazine previously focused on heroes of the pandemic and shared the inspiring stories of some on the front lines of the health emergency who worked to ensure that the spiritual and physical needs of people throughout the diocese were met. Other issues shared inspiring faith journeys and examined Catholic education.
In addition, under the umbrella of how a crisis can bring opportunity, the diocesan Communications Department worked to increase and improve the livestream transmission of Mass from the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. Daily and weekend Masses from the mother church of the diocese have been viewed by thousands of Catholics each week, as well as by non-Catholics seeking the encouraging voice of God in their lives. Thanks to the generosity of Spread the Faith donors, state-of-the-art equipment was installed to help ensure that this important ministry continues.
A financial gift will help parishes and the diocese reach out to more people in Northeast Ohio by doing the following:
- Maintaining Northeast Ohio Catholic magazine, the largest-circulation diocesan magazine in the country, which is sent free six times each year to 235,000 homes.
- Bringing the latest news of the diocese to thousands of people through the weekly e-newsletter.
- Continuing to acquire new technology to spread the Gospel message through the use of livestreaming and social media.
The pandemic brought an historic opportunity for the new evangelization. Supporting the Spread the Faith Annual Appeal will allow more people to hear the voice of God calling them to a life fully realized in his Church.
