Sunday TV Mass time shifts to an hour earlier on Fox 8 effective Oct. 25
Viewers of the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland’s weekly Sunday TV Mass should take note that the broadcast time on station WJW Fox 8 News is being changed from 6 a.m. to 5 a.m., effective Sunday, Oct. 25. The recorded Mass has been aired on Channel 8 for more than 40 years.

The diocese was notified by Fox 8 officials on Oct. 21 of the change in broadcast time. Fox 8 News said the shift is being made so the station can comply with federal mandates involving children’s programming.

The TV Mass also can be viewed on the diocesan website starting on Saturday evenings and on Sundays. In addition, it can be heard at 4 p.m. on Saturdays and 10:30 a.m. Sundays on Cleveland’s Catholic radio station, AM 1260 The Rock. Radio station WINT 1330 AM airs the Mass at 9 a.m. on Sunday and Cox Communications cable subscribers can view the Mass at 11:30 a.m. Sundays on channel 45.

“I am very grateful for the viewership and support of our TV Mass ministry,” said Deacon Jim Armstrong, executive director of communications for the diocese. “We are making major improvements and planning to expand access to the broadcast. Viewers will notice that the TV Mass now originates from the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist instead of the Fox 8 studios,” he added.

In addition, the diocese invested in new camera equipment inside the cathedral to provide the best and most reverential viewing experience, Armstrong said.

The Catholic televised Mass on Fox 8 has been a staple of religious programming in Northeast Ohio for decades and has cultivated a dedicated, faithful following, Armstrong added.

He also reminded the faithful across the eight-county diocese that Mass is livestreamed from the cathedral at 8 a.m. Sundays and noon Monday through Friday on the diocesan website.
