New issue of Northeast Ohio Catholic magazine is on its way

News of the Diocese

November 5, 2020

Watch your mailbox because the November/December issue of Northeast Ohio Catholic magazine will be arriving soon.

In the cover story, three people: Mercedarian Father Daniel Brown; Cary Dabney, who heads the diocesan Office of Ministry with African American Catholics; and Brittany Varsho, a senior at the University of Akron, share their conversion stories and their gratefulness for the gift of their faith.

There’s also another look at the Viera family. Mom Sinthia and her three daughters were received into the Church after a delay caused by the pandemic.

Bishop Edward Malesic reflects on living a life of gratefulness to God. A recap of his installation is also featured, as is a look at the ordination of three new permanent deacons.

The Rowan family talks about family holiday and food traditions and shares some favorite recipes in the Culture feature.

St. Vincent Charity Medical Center offers information on its acute behavioral health and addiction treatment programs and there is a look at how Catholic schools across the diocese are operating during the pandemic.

Also, St. Raphael Parish will continue its longtime Adopt-a-Family program that makes Christmas brighter for needy families.

There’s also a look at this year’s #weGiveCatholic online day of giving, set for Dec. 1 and some of the causes that will benefit from donations.

In the Know with Father Joe answers the question, “Why are there so many Bibles?” and the Last Word column reflects on the late Sister Rochelle Guertal, OSST and her dedication to the Retirement Fund for Religious.

As always, this issue also includes clergy assignments, event listings, news briefs and In Memoriam listings.

If you do not receive your magazine or have a change of address to report, email Sally Benninger or call 216-696-6525, Ext. 3130.
