Today our Holy Father Pope Francis announced his decision to appoint Msgr. Larry Kulick as the next bishop of the Diocese of Greensburg. I am extremely happy with the appointment of Bishop-elect Kulick and have every confidence that he will be an excellent shepherd for the Church of the Diocese of Greensburg.
I had the pleasure of working with Bishop-elect Kulick for five years as the bishop of the Diocese of Greensburg. He is a compassionate pastor, devoted priest, and very capable teacher of the faith. I personally witnessed his love for the Church in Western Pennsylvania and his dedication to giving witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in all circumstances.
Bishop-elect Kulick was at my side during my five years of ministry in the Diocese of Greensburg, I could always count on his wisdom and ability to work tirelessly to advance the mission of the Church for the good of God’s people.
I congratulate Bishop-elect Kulick, as well as the clergy, religious and lay faithful of the Diocese of Greensburg. Pope Francis has chosen well. The Diocese of Greensburg has people of strong faith. They have a strong pastoral leader in their next shepherd.
