Friday of the Second Week of Lent – March 5, 2021

It is obvious that Jesus is telling this parable about himself. He is the son of the landowner and he would be killed by those who thought that his death would bring about some good for themselves.

Taking this further, there are those who believe that by getting rid of God in our culture we will be able to determine the world for ourselves, as if that would be a good thing!

We must somehow apply this parable to ourselves by asking, in what parts of our lives do we reject the rule of God and the authority of God’s Son over us?

At the end of the parable, Jesus makes it clear that the Kingdom will be taken away from those who reject him and given to others.

We are the others. We must make sure that we do not abuse the gift of Christ by accepting a rule other than his.
