As he continues getting acquainted with the Diocese of Cleveland, Bishop Edward Malesic took time on March 23 to visit with the Mercedarian Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament. About a dozen professed sisters, novices and postulants enjoyed the opportunity to have time with the bishop, to share a meal and conversation.
The sisters, who staff Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Cleveland, also live in a convent on the parish grounds.
The order ministers in the United States, Venezuela, Cuba, Guatemala, Mozambique, Honduras, Chile, Columbia, Costa Rica, El Salvador Spain, Italy and Mexico.
Mother Jeanette Marie Estrada, HMSS, is the vocation director. There is a formation house for novices and postulants at Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
The order, which is more than 100 years old, is centered on the Eucharist.
