Bishop Edward Malesic announces the appointment of Father John C. Chlebo, pastor of St. Christopher Parish in Rocky River, to the additional position of delegate to senior priests in the Secretariat for Clergy and Religious for the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland.
Father Chlebo replaces Father John E. Manning who is retiring from the position he has held since 2015.
As delegate to senior priests, Father Chlebo will attend to the extraordinary needs and concerns of priests over the age of 65, and particularly to those over the age of 75, the current retirement age for priests in the diocese.
Father Chlebo was ordained to the priesthood in 1980. He will continue to lead St. Christopher Parish as its pastor, a role he has held since July 1997.
“I am deeply grateful to Father Manning for his outstanding work, constant dedication and loving service to his brother priests,” Bishop Malesic said. “May the Lord bless him always in his retirement. While he has big shoes to fill, I know Father Chlebo will continue the high level of attentive and compassionate care for senior members of the diocesan presbyterate. I look forward to working with him in his new role,” the bishop added.
The delegate for senior priests collaborates with the bishop and the Secretariat for Clergy and Religious to minister to the senior priests of the diocese.
