The Catholic Community Foundation made a recent distribution of $577,779 to benefit Catholic schools and parishes. A total of $261,940 went to the Office of Catholic Education to assist 44 Catholic schools, while $315,839 was disbursed through the Office of Catechetical Formation to support 32 parish and diocesan catechetical programs in the Diocese of Cleveland.
Grants were awarded to help fund faith formation for children, teens, young adults, and adults, as well as school curriculum and textbooks, school safety enhancements, progress in STREAM programs, and more initiatives to advance 21st-century learning. Some of the funds will be used for much-needed technology upgrades and the installation of new equipment to assist in live-streaming, a tool that has become essential during the pandemic.
The distribution was funded through the generosity of all parishes in the Diocese – pastors, parochial vicars, volunteers, and parishioners – through the historic Rooted in Faith – Forward in Hope fundraising campaign. Rooted in Faith – Forward in Hope raised $170 million in support of campaign case components that continue to benefit diocesan and parish ministries in the eight counties of the Diocese of Cleveland (Ashland, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Summit, and Wayne).
“Rooted in Faith – Forward in Hope is a remarkable expression of faith and generosity that continues to enliven the ministries and the mission of the Church in Northeast Ohio,” says Most Reverend Edward C. Malesic, Bishop of Cleveland. “I thank the generous donors for their commitment to their parishes and the nearly 40,000 students in the Diocese of Cleveland. Their actions, taken a decade ago, inspire much-needed hope as we continue to emerge from the pandemic.”
