My dear Muslim friends,
As the Muslim community throughout Northeast Ohio begins the Eid al-Fitr celebrations, I wish to offer a greeting of peace and my congratulations on the conclusion of your month-long vigil of fasting, prayer and works of mercy.
In a spirit of deep respect and friendship, I recall and offer the words of Pope Francis who said, “We, Christians and Muslims, are called to be bearers of hope, for the present life and for the life to come, and to be witnesses, restorers and builders of this hope, especially for those experiencing difficulties and despair."
As a sign of spiritual solidarity, I offer my personal and prayerful best wishes during this time of celebration. May your lives give glory to the Almighty and bring hope and joy to all those around you.
