Bishop Martin Amos, retired bishop of Davenport, Iowa, will be the main celebrant at the funeral Mass for Deacon Charles B. Doerpers. Mass will be at 11 a.m. May 27 in Holy Redeemer Church, 15712 Kipling Ave., Cleveland. Father Martin Polito, Holy Redeemer pastor, will be the homilist.
At the request of the family, there will be no vespers or visitation.
Deacon Doerpers, 71, died on May 24. He was born on Aug. 16, 1949, and was preceded in death by his wife Diane (Pavliscak).
Bishop Anthony Pilla ordained him to the permanent diaconate for service to the Diocese of Cleveland on May 23, 1998 in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.
Deacon Doerpers was assigned to serve Holy Redeemer Parish in Cleveland. In addition to this assignment, he served as director of Catholic services, Regina Caeli Chapel at Cleveland Hopkins Airport, from Jan. 4, 2002 until Feb. 28, 2010.
On April 4, 2010, Deacon Doerpers was assigned to serve St. John of the Cross Parish in Euclid.
Interment will be at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon.
