Traditionally, the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland hosts an annual Mass in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist for couples who are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Couples celebrating other significant anniversaries – 55 years or more – who missed previous celebrations also are welcome to register for the Mass.
Unfortunately, the liturgy was canceled in 2020 and again this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The diocesan Office for Marriage and Family Ministry wants to recognize these milestone anniversaries celebrated by couples in 2020 and 2021, so they are offering them the opportunity to receive a special certificate and blessing commemorating their anniversary.
Couples who were married in 1971 or earlier can register to receive a certificate by clicking here. Application for the certificate must be made electronically. The online form is not available by fax or email. Deadline to apply for a certificate is July 5 in order to arrange for printing. Couples will receive an email confirmation after registering online.
Certificates will be mailed during the first week of August.
For more information or questions about the certificates, contact Katie Galicic in the Office of Marriage and Family Ministry by email, kgalicic@dioceseofcleveland.org, or call 216-696-6525, Ext. 2323.
In addition, a request can be made for a parchment recording or a papal blessing by clicking here. There is a fee of approximately $50. Application for a papal blessing, which is handled through Elemosineria Apostolica in Rome, must be done online.
