Clergy assignment changes – July 2021

Father John A. Misenko concluded his authorized leave of absence for sick leave and received permission to retire, effective June 8.

Father Joseph A. Bacevice, pastor, St. Casimir Parish, Cleveland, was reappointed pastor, St. Casimir Parish, for a renewable six-year term, effective July 1.

Father Joseph H. Callahan, pastor, Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Cleveland, was reappointed pastor, Our Lady of Lourdes Parish for a renewable six-year term, effective July 1.

Father Charles T. Diedrick, pastor, St. Mary Parish, Elyria, was reappointed pastor, St. Mary Parish for a renewable six-year term, effective July 1.

Father Thomas M. Dragga, pastor, Resurrection of Our Lord Parish, Solon, was reappointed pastor, Resurrection of Our Lord Parish for a renewable six-year term, effective July 1.

Father Kevin P. Elbert, pastor, St. Luke Parish, Lakewood, was reappointed pastor, St. Luke Parish for a renewable six-year term, effective July 1.

Father J. Mark Hobson, pastor, St. Aloysius-St. Agatha Parish, Cleveland, was reappointed pastor, St. Aloysius-St. Agatha Parish for a renewable six-year term, effective July 1.

Father Craig M. Hovanec, pastor, St. Peter Parish, Lorain, was reappointed pastor, St. Peter Parish for a renewable six-year term, effective July 1.

Father George Kusy, pastor, St. Cyprian Parish, Perry, was reappointed pastor, St. Cyprian Parish for a renewable six-year term, effective July 1.

Father Timothy J. O’Connor, pastor, St. Joseph Parish, Amherst, was reappointed pastor, St. Joseph Parish for a renewable six-year term, effective July 1. This appointment is in addition to his assignment as pastor of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, South Amherst.

Father Mark J. Peyton, pastor, St. Francis de Sales Parish, Parma, was reappointed pastor, St. Francis de Sales Parish for a renewable six-year term, effective July 1.

Father Mark R. Riley, pastor, St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Cleveland, was reappointed pastor, St. Michael the Archangel Parish for a renewable six-year term, effective July 1.

Father John A. Valencheck, pastor, St. Sebastian Parish, Akron, was reappointed pastor, St. Sebastian Parish for a renewable six-year term, effective July 1.

Father Joseph A. Warner, pastor, Blessed Trinity Parish, Akron, was reappointed pastor, Blessed Trinity Parish for a renewable six-year term effective July 1.

Father Joshua R. Trefney, parochial vicar, St. Albert the Great Parish, North Royalton, was appointed as chaplain to the Encounter School of Ministry – Akron Campus, effective Sept. 1. This appointment is in addition to his assignment as parochial vicar, St. Albert the Great Parish, North Royalton.

Father Joseph D. McNulty, senior-priest retired, was appointed spiritual director for the Cleveland Diocesan Cursillo Movement, effective immediately.

Father Vincent J. Hawk concludes his appointment as pastor, St. Peter Parish, Loudonville, as chaplain of Ashland University and as director, Newman Campus Ministry. He was appointed pastor, Holy Trinity Parish, Avon, effective Aug. 1.

Father John E. Manning concludes his appointment as administrator, Holy Trinity Parish, Avon, effective Aug. 1.

Father Scott D. Goodfellow concludes his appointment as parochial vicar, St. Mary Parish, Hudson, and he was appointed administrator, St. Mary Parish, Chardon and administrator, St. Patrick Parish, Thompson, effective Aug. 1.

Father Andrew B. Turner concludes his appointment as administrator, St. Mary Parish, Chardon, and administrator, St. Patrick Parish, Thompson, effective Aug. 1. Father Turner continues his appointment as vice rector of Borromeo Seminary, Wickliffe and director of field education at Saint Mary Seminary, Wickliffe.

Father Christopher A. Cox concludes his appointment as parochial vicar, St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Parma and he was appointed administrator, St. Anselm Parish, Chesterland, effective Oct. 1.

Father John S. Mulhollan concludes his appointment as parochial vicar, St. Francis de Sales Parish, Akron and he was appointed administrator, St. Peter Parish, Loudonville and chaplain of Ashland University, effective Aug. 1.

The diaconal assignment of Deacon Andrew J. Novak, St. Cyprian Parish, Perry, concluded and he was granted retirement status, effective Oct. 1.

With permission from the Most Rev. Gregory M. Aymond, archbishop of New Orleans, the diaconal assignment of Deacon Peter Moore at St. Joseph Parish, Strongsville concluded and he was granted retirement status, effective June 18.
