Among her duties, Durst will be responsible for collaborating with the vicar for evangelization for the purpose of planning and executing diocesan wide initiatives, recommending programming and resources for diocesan wide initiatives and preparing reports in areas of responsibility.

In addition, she will lead secretariat planning and goal setting, budgeting and evaluation of programming and performance results. Her responsibilities also include working with the international community as well as overseeing ministry to the incarcerated.

“I am delighted to be joining the diocese to lead its Secretariat for Parish Life and Development. It is a great privilege to serve the people, parishes and leadership of the Diocese of Cleveland,” said Durst. “I’m looking forward to beginning my new role, bringing my servant leadership style and organizational expertise to be of service to God and my brothers and sisters in Christ.”

Her pastoral/ministerial experience includes a decade of service to the Diocese of Charleston, South Carolina as director of planning in the Office of Synod Implementation where she facilitated pastoral planning for parishes and diocesan offices and monitored implementation of the diocesan synod. In collaboration with the diocesan pastoral council, she also developed the diocesan pastoral plan, among her other accomplishments.

“I am pleased that Lisa will be joining our diocesan administration to lead the Secretariat of Parish Life and Development,” said Bishop Malesic. “Lisa joins us at an exciting time in our diocese as we increase our efforts to engage with others and invite them to experience the light and love of Jesus in their lives. Her experience and energy will be a blessing to our diocese.”

A military veteran, Durst served in the United States Air Force. She earned a Master of Public Administration degree from Troy University in Troy, Alabama, and has a Bachelor of Science degree in management studies from the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland.
