Catholic Charities takes Thanksgiving meal requests, needs volunteer drivers

News of the Diocese

November 15, 2021

As Thanksgiving approaches, Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland is spreading the word that free Thanksgiving meals are available to all who need them. Volunteer drivers will deliver the dinners on Thanksgiving Day. Meals should arrive between about 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Those requesting a meal should call 216-377-3725 and leave a message, including their name, phone number, full address and the number of meals needed.

Call the same number, 216-377-3725, to sign up as a volunteer driver. There is a critical need for drivers and many options are available. Volunteers should leave their name and phone number so someone can arrange with them. They also can preregister at holidays@ccdocle.org.

Meghan McGuan, Catholic Charities’ Emergency Services director, said they will be cooking about 1,500 turkeys this year and expect to serve about 15,000 meals on Thanksgiving.

Monetary donations to support the Thanksgiving meal program can be delivered or mailed to St. Augustine Church, 2486 W. 14th St., Cleveland, 44113.

This is the 49th year for the Thanksgiving meals.
