The wake for Deacon Thomas J. Grasson will begin with vespers at 3 p.m. Dec. 20 in St. Colette Church, 330 W. 130thSt., Brunswick. Father Donald Oleksiak will be the presider and Father John Crawford will be the homilist. The wake will continue until 6:30 p.m.
Bishop Martin Amos, retired bishop of Davenport, Iowa will celebrate Deacon Grasson’s funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Dec. 21 in St. Colette Church. Homilist will be Father William Krizner.
Deacon Grasson, 76, died Dec. 17.
He was born April 13, 1945. Survivors include his wife, Judy Palmer, his children and grandchildren.
Bishop Anthony Pilla ordained him to the permanent diaconate for service to the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland on May 20, 1995 in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.
After ordination, Deacon Grasson was assigned to serve St. John Newumann Parish in Strongsville. On June 1, 2010, he was assigned to St. Mary Parish in Berea, where he served until retiring on Jan. 15, 2016.
Those who knew him said Deacon Grasson was faithful to his diaconal ministry, particularly the ministry of charity. They said he was generous in giving of his time to help those in need and he will be missed by many.
Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Valley City.
