Clergy assignment changes -- January/February 2022

Father Jeremy D. Merzweiler concluded his appointment as administrator, St. Francis de Sales Parish, Akron, and he was appointed pastor, St. Francis de Sales Parish, Akron effective Jan. 24.

Father Richard Bona concluded his appointment as administrator, St. Emeric Parish, Cleveland, and as administrator, St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish, Cleveland, and he was appointed pastor, St. Emeric Parish, Cleveland, effective Feb. 6, and pastor, St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish, Cleveland, effective Feb. 22.

Father Michael J. Feldtz concludes his appointment as administrator, St. Thomas More Parish, Brooklyn, and he was appointed pastor, St. Thomas More Parish, Brooklyn, effective Feb. 23.

Father J. Mark Hobson, pastor, St. Aloysius-St. Agatha Parish, Cleveland, was granted an authorized leave of absence for personal reasons, effective Jan. 30.

Father Joseph Eddy, OdeM, with the permission of the Very Rev. Stefano Defraia, OdeM, Provincial of the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mercy, concludes his appointment as pastor, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Cleveland, and he was reassigned outside of the diocese, effective Jan. 11.

Father James Chia, OdeM, with the permission of the Very Rev. Stefano Defraia, OdeM, provincial of the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mercy, concluded his appointment as parochial vicar, St. Rocco Parish, Cleveland, and his assignment as chaplain, Lutheran Hospital, Cleveland, and he was appointed pastor, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Cleveland, effective Jan. 11. His residence will remain at St. Rocco Parish.

Father Eugene Costa, OdeM, with the permission of the Very Rev. Stefano Defraia, OdeM, provincial of the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mercy, was appointed parochial vicar, St. Rocco Parish, Cleveland, and Catholic chaplain, Lutheran Hospital, Cleveland, effective Jan. 11.

Father Joseph Scalco, CSJ, with the permission of the Very Rev. Alejandro Bazan, CSJ, provincial minister of the Congregation of St. Joseph, USA/Mexico Province, concluded his appointment as administrator, St. Jude Parish, Elyria, and he was appointed pastor, St. Jude Parish, Elyria, effective Jan. 23.
