Thursday of the Third Week of Lent – March 24, 2022

Jesus had just done something good in driving out a demon from a man who was mute. And what did his detractors do? They attributed the healing to the devil. Why? Perhaps they were jealous of Jesus who could do what they could not.

Jesus had a good comeback. He said, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be laid waste and house will fall against house.”

At the end of his life, just as he was about to offer himself on the cross for our salvation, Jesus prayed that we would remain one just as he is one with the Father.

The work of Jesus unites us to God and to one another. Anything that brings us together as God’s People is from God. Anything that divides us is of the devil. By the way, there are many forces at work today that want to cause division. My best advice: beware of those forces and stay far away from them.

What is present in your life that works to divide you from others, from the Church, from God?
