Volunteers needed for Easter meal distribution

Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland, expects to prepare and distribute up to 6,000 meals during its upcoming Easter hot meals service.

Due to renovations at the St. Augustine Hunger Center, the hot meals will not be offered there this year. Instead, the meals will be offered at the Bishop William M. Cosgrove Center. Catholic Charities is seeking volunteers to assist with meal service and delivery during the event.

On Easter, April 17, meals will be distributed from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bishop Cosgrove Center, 1736 Superior Ave., Cleveland. In addition to providing meals to those who visit the hunger center, Catholic Charities will deliver meals to those who need them and will provide meals to community partners that support the homeless and homebound in surrounding counties. Deliveries will begin at 10 a.m. and last until all meals are delivered.

Easter meals will consist of ham, a vegetable medley, mashed potatoes, a dinner roll, juice and cheesecake.

Transportation, facilitated by Barons Bus, will be available throughout the day to transport clients between St. Augustine Hunger Center and the Bishop Cosgrove Center.

Those who are interested in volunteering or who would like a meal should visit ccdocle.org/holidaymeals, email holidays@ccdocle.org or call 216-377-3725. Catholic Charities will accept meal delivery requests until noon April 15.

Catholic Charities is one of the largest comprehensive health and human services organizations in the region. It delivers more than 150 services at 60 locations to more than 400,000 individuals each year, providing help and creating hope for people of every race and religion throughout the eight counties of the Diocese of Cleveland.
