I take great pleasure in extending my warmest best wishes to the entire Jewish community of Northeast Ohio on the occasion of the Great Feast of Passover. Passover recalls that the Almighty released his beloved people from slavery in Egypt and brought them to the Promised Land, and that the Holy One continues to inspire humanity to liberate those held in the chains of hate, racism and war.
Borrowing words of Pope Francis, I offer this prayer: “May God also accompany you today with the abundance of his blessings, protect your community and, in his mercy, bestow peace upon everyone.” In a special way, also we remember in our prayers the Jewish community in Ukraine. May the Most High protect them and keep them out of harm’s way.
Please be assured of my prayers for all of you during these holy days as I rely on your prayers for me.
