In the coming days the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, will be celebrated, culminating with Yom Kippur. And then Sukkot follows, the “season of rejoicing.” On behalf of the clergy, religious and faithful of the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland, I extend heartfelt good wishes to the Jewish community of Northeast Ohio.
“May you be inscribed and sealed for a good year.”
May these celebrations be moments of grace and a summons to spiritual renewal, and may the New Year be rich in fruits of peace and good for those who walk faithfully in the Lord's Law. I also pray that these holidays bring your community joy and the blessings of the Eternal One.
It is my sincere hope that Jews and Christians, growing in respect and mutual friendship, may always bear witness to the world of the values that spring from the adoration of the one God. May we always work together to promote peace and justice which are vital for our world today.
