Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland expects to prepare and distribute up to 12,000 meals during its annual Thanksgiving hot meals distribution event at St. Augustine Hunger Center and the Bishop William M. Cosgrove Center.
Generous benefactors donated new freezers to help make the holiday meal program possible again this year.
“It is humbling to see the amazing work that Catholic Charities of Cleveland and Eric Milke and his team at the hunger centers are doing to feed the hungry in our neighborhood,” said Dr. Jame and Shyla Abraham, who donated the funds for the new freezers. “Hunger is the most basic human need. We consider it a privilege and a blessing that we could play a small part in supporting their kind and compassionate efforts.”
Volunteers are needed to assist with meal service and meal delivery on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24.
Meals will be distributed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Augustine Hunger Center, 1400 Howard Ave., Cleveland, and at the Bishop William M. Cosgrove Center, 1736 Superior Ave., Cleveland. In addition to serving those who visit the hunger centers, Catholic Charities will be delivering meals to those who need them and providing meals to about 15 community partners that support the homeless and homebound in surrounding counties.
Deliveries will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will continue until all meals are delivered. The greatest need this year is for delivery drivers.
Those interested in volunteering or who would like to request a meal should visit ccdocle.org/thanksgiving, email holidays@ccdocle.org or call 216-377-3725.
