Bereavement ministers, deacons, parish leaders and lay ecclesial ministers are invited to participate in a retreat/day of reflection 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Jesuit Retreat Center, 5629 State Road, Parma. Cost is $25.
The diocesan Marriage and Family Ministry Office once again is working with Catholic Cemeteries Association to facilitate the event. The day will include ministry leaders taking time to process their grief over the past few years as well as time for quiet reflection, adoration led by Father Josh Cochrac, parochial vicar at St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Parma, and prayer teams.
Terri Yohman, director of the Marriage and Family Life Office, said mental health continues to be a hot topic for many people. With the holidays approaching, she said it’s important for people to pause and ensure they aren’t holding on to too many things.
“Eucharistic adoration is a great place to surrender and be healed,” Yohman said.

In addition, the Marriage and Family Ministry Office partnered with Cornerstone of Hope and St. Albert the Great Parish to offer a bereavement support group for those with a loss from suicide. The group was well received and attendees said they found it beneficial, so plans were made to continue it. St. Albert the Great offered meeting space for the program.
“We are so blessed to offer some small offering for those that have lost precious loved ones,” Yohman said.
