Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland is seeking volunteers to assist with meal service and delivery during its annual Christmas hot meal event at St. Augustine Hunger Center in Cleveland’s Tremont neighborhood. They expect to prepare and distribute up to 11,000 meals.
Meals will be distributed between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Christmas Day, Dec. 25. Distribution will take place at the hunger center, 1400 Howard Ave., Cleveland. The meals will include ham, yams, green beans/corn, mashed potatoes, a dinner roll, juice, coffee, and a brownie/cookie.
In addition to serving those who visit the hunger center, Catholic Charities also will be delivering meals to those who need them and providing meals to approximately 15 community partners that support the homeless and homebound in surrounding counties. Deliveries will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Barons Arena, 5310 Hauserman Road, Cleveland and will continue until all meals are delivered. Meal program coordinators said the greatest need this year is for delivery drivers to distribute the meals.
