In today’s Gospel (Mt 6:7-15), Jesus teaches us how to pray. His perfect prayer, The Lord’s Prayer, starts by putting us in right relationship with God by calling on God as Our Father. This makes it clear that we are His children. Once we get this right, everything else begins to fall into place.
Children are dependent. Children trust that they will be provided what they need. We should have this childlike attitude in prayer – dependent on God and with trust that God will bring about his kingdom, do his will on earth as in heaven, give us our daily bread, lead us away from all temptation and forgive our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
