Jesus said to those who were trying to put him to death: "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and am here; I did not come on my own, but he sent me."
Remember that Jesus, God’s only begotten Son, was perfectly content in heaven. But his heavenly Father gave him a mission to come to us and save us. This was the will of the Father – that Jesus bring us back to him. And Jesus, the perfect Son, is obedient to his heavenly Father, even unto death. Jesus says to his Father, “Your will be done.” He taught us to say the same.
When we see Jesus, we see the face of the merciful Father in the flesh. Jesus is the incarnate love of God for us.
We are children of God – with the privilege of calling God our Father. Therefore, we love Jesus, who is one with the Father; in fact, he is God from God, light from light. Coming to know Jesus and love Jesus is what gives our heavenly Father great joy. Because when we love Jesus, we love God himself.
May we continue to build our relationship with Jesus, so that he will not be a God who is distant from us, but our God who is close to us and personal.
