In remembrance – Father William R. KriznerThe wake for Father William R. Krizner will begin at 3 p.m. April 11 with vespers in St. Colette Church, 330 W. 130th St., Brunswick. Bishop Martin Amos, retired bishop of Davenport, Iowa, will preside. Homilist will be Abbot Gary Hoover, OSB.

Auxiliary Bishop Michael Woost will celebrate the funeral Mass at 11 a.m. April 12 in St. Colette Church with Father Damian Ference, vicar for evangelization, as homilist.

Father Krizner, 74, died on April 1.

He was born March 20, 1949 to the late William and Jennie (Piccolomini) Krizner. Father Krizner was educated at St. Catherine School and Benedictine High School in Cleveland; Borromeo College in Wickliffe and Saint Mary Seminary in Cleveland.

Bishop James Hickey ordained him to the priesthood for service to the Diocese of Cleveland on June 9, 1979 in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.

Father Krizner’s first assignment was as parochial vicar of St. Columbkille Parish in Parma. He was appointed chaplain of Holy Name High School in Parma Heights on June 27, 1985. He ministered there for 22 years, helping young men and women mature in discipleship.

On Feb. 21, 2007, Father Krizner was named pastor of St. Colette Parish.

Those who knew him said Father Krizner was dedicated to bringing young people to the faith. They said he would be remembered for his creative ways of taking the deep truth of the Catholic faith and touching the lives of many through his preaching and teaching.

Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Valley City.
