In remembrance – Deacon Frederick F. Simon

Auxiliary Bishop Michael Woost will celebrate the funeral Mass for Deacon Frederick F, Simon at 11 a.m. May 9 in Sagrada Familia Church, 7719 Detroit Ave., Cleveland. Father Rob Reidy, former Sagrada Familia pastor, will be the homilist.

The wake for Deacon Simon took place on May 8 at Sagrada Familia Church. Bishop Edward Malesic presided at vespers and Father Francisco Honorato Garnica, CSJ, Sagrada Familia pastor, was the homilist.

Deacon Simon, 87, died on May 2.

Survivors include his wife Millie (Millemann), children and grandchildren.

He was ordained to the permanent diaconate for service to the Diocese of Cleveland by Bishop Anthony Pilla on June 6, 1981 in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.

Deacon Simon was assigned to serve St. Francis Parish, Cleveland. On April 1, 1982, he was assigned to serve Blessed Sacrament Parish, Cleveland and on Oct. 1, 1983, he was assigned to serve Capilla Cristo Rey, Cleveland. On Aug. 15, 1997, he was assigned to serve Sagrada Familia Parish. During this assignment, Deacon Simon also served as a member of the Mobile Missionary Team.

Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park.
