New Northeast Ohio Catholic magazine will arrive soon

News of the Diocese

September 14, 2023

Watch your mailbox because the September/October issue of Northeast Ohio Catholic magazine, the official publication of the Diocese of Cleveland, will arrive soon.

This issue is filled with information and stories relating to the important human life issue that will be on the November ballot.

On the cover, Christy Ballor shares her inspiring and very personal story of how an abortion she had as a teenager led to a journey of forgiveness and her reception into the Catholic Church. She continues to advocate for life as a volunteer with Project Rachel, a Catholic healing program.

In a related story, Maureen Curley, a psychiatric nurse practitioner whose primary interests are treating and researching women’s health, talks about her work with Project Rachel and Rachel’s Vineyard and how the programs help with healing from abortion trauma. Curley also tells how she personally was helped by Project Rachel.

Mary von Carlowitz, director of the diocesan Office for Human Life, discusses the statewide issue and how her office is ready to assist women both during and after pregnancy with needed support and resources.

Details and concerns about the Nov. 7 ballot issue are included, as well as a link offering further information about the important initiative.

In his column, Bishop Edward Malesic writes about the changes in state funding for education and how they will make a Catholic education even more accessible.

There also is a look at some of the highlights from the beginning of the new school year across the diocese.

Learn about creating a Catholic legacy through a Donor Advised Fund, get a recap of The FEST 2023 and a preview of the Alleluia Ball in the new magazine.
