New issue of Northeast Ohio Catholic magazine will arrive soon

The November-December issue of Northeast Ohio Catholic magazine is on its way to households throughout the eight-county Diocese of Cleveland.

Featured on the cover is James Crusan, a parishioner at St. Bede Parish in Mentor, who shares the twists and turns of his faith journey from his boyhood in Pennsylvania through his U.S. Navy career and now to his active participation at St. Bede.

In his column, Bishop Edward Malesic write about the approaching season of Advent, pointing out it is a time of anticipation and an opportunity for growth.

It’s almost time for #weGiveCatholic 2023. The 24-hour online day of Catholic giving will be Nov. 28, Giving Tuesday. Learn about this year’s event and get a look at which parishes, schools, nonprofits, Catholic Charities sites/programs are participating.

St. Francis Xavier Parish in Medina used funds from its 2022 #weGiveCatholic campaign to bring home and begin restoration of its bell, which was left in the old church bell tower after the parish built a new, larger building. Get details about how the historic bell found its way back home to the parish.

Since 2009, the Prayer Quilt Ministry at St. Rita Parish in Solon has been making lap-size quilts prayerfully and with love for anyone who would find comfort from one. Among the “knot tiers” is Grace Bertolino, who is blind. She’s also a lector at the parish and a musician. Learn more about this special ministry.

There also are stories about the next round of Nine Nights of Night Prayer, which begins on Nov. 30, a story about the headstone service offered by the Catholic Cemeteries Association, Pope Francis’ recently released Laudate Deum exhortation and a feature on Lorain’s Little Town of Bethlehem.
