In remembrance – Deacon Robert J. DyboThe wake for Deacon Robert J. Dybo will begin at 3 p.m. March 15 in Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 418 W. 15th St., Lorain. Bishop Martin Amos, retired bishop of Davenport, Iowa will preside. Deacon George Malec will be the homilist.

The wake will continue until 8 p.m.

Auxiliary Bishop Michael Woost will celebrate Deacon Dybo’s funeral Mass at 11 a.m. March 16 in Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Father Craig Hovanec, pastor, will be the homilist.

Deacon Dybo, 81, died March 9. He is survived by his wife Linda (Marciniak), children and grandchildren.

Bishop Anthony Pilla ordained him to the permanent diaconate for service to the Diocese of Cleveland on May 21, 1988 in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.

After ordination, Deacon Dybo was assigned to serve St. Mary Parish in Elyria. During this assignment he served as emcee to Bishop A. Edward Quinn, effective Oct. 10, 1989. In addition, he served as assistant moderator for the Diocesan Union of Holy Name Societies, effective Dec. 20, 1991.

On July 1, 1995, he was assigned to serve Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Lorain, where he ministered until his retirement on April 19, 2020.

Those who knew him said Deacon Dybo will be remembered as being kind and generous in his diaconal ministry and his faithful attention to his ministry touched the lives of many.

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
