My dear Jewish friends,
As you begin the sacred days of Passover, remembering the meal eaten by your forefathers at the time of the Exodus from Egypt and your liberation from slavery, I extend my sincere best wishes to you during this special time. And in these challenging days in our history, the prayers of Jews and Christians should reach heaven with a plea for lasting peace in your homeland.
In the words of St. Pope John Paul II, “Darkness can only be scattered by light. Hatred can only be conquered by love.” As anti-Semitism increases around us, may you find strength, hope and peace in knowing that our prayers for God’s blessing accompany you always.
May you know the joy of this holy time and the peace that comes from God’s eternal love.
Shalom.
