New Northeast Ohio Catholic magazine arriving soon

The May/June issue of the award-winning Northeast Ohio Catholic magazine is arriving in homes across the eight-county Diocese of Cleveland.

Featured as the cover article is Camp Christopher, which is celebrating its first century of service in the diocese. Learn about the history of the popular camp, which is operated by Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland, and enjoy some personal stories about the camp’s impact. It has helped thousands of campers create memories and deepen their faith.

In his column, Bishop Edward Malesic writes about how families are the foundation of the community.

Each of the 20 high schools in the diocese share the names of their top students from the class of 2024.

Substance use disorder programs like Matt Talbot will benefit from an in-pew appeal – part of the 2024 Catholic Charities Appeal – taking place June 1-2. Donations made this weekend will be used to strengthen these programs and services, which are highlighted in the magazine.

This issue also looks at the men who were ordained to the priesthood, transitional and permanent diaconate this spring, as well as the men and women religious, priest and deacons who are celebrating significant anniversaries of their religious vows and ordination this year.

With the 10th National Eucharistic Congress fast approaching, the magazine offers a preview of what to expect from the event. A diocesan cohort of 250 delegates, including Bishop Malesic and Auxiliary Bishop Michael Woost, will attend the July 17-21 congress in Indianapolis, Indiana.

A preview of the ballpark Mass set for June 24 at Canal Park in Akron and the final round of Nine Nights of Night Prayer also are in this issue, as well as regular features like clergy assignment changes, Things to Do listings and In Memoriam.

Andrej Lah, director of the Catholic Cemeteries Association, has the Last Word on understanding cremation in the Catholic faith.
