The Cleveland Diocese was recognized at this year’s Catholic Media Association (CMA) awards with two first place honors. The diocese won in the categories of Best Video - Catechesis, Diocesan and National News Organizations - Eucharistic Revival, and Best Multimedia Package - Pro-Life Activities.
The first award honored the Eucharistic Revival Prayer - Many Languages, One Body video. It captures the beauty of a special prayer composed by the Eucharistic Revival team at the Cleveland diocese that was translated into 16 languages and also made available in braille. The video featured community members reciting the prayer in seven different languages to celebrate the diverse cultures of the diocese and the shared love of the Eucharist.
The pro-life winning content centered on a collection of print and video segments entitled Faith & Healing. The series shows how the Catholic Church walks with and supports people during all aspects of pregnancy, including those seeking forgiveness and healing related to a past abortion.
The CMA awards also includes categories for books and the Cleveland diocese was recognized in one of those, as well. Fr. Damian Ference, vicar of Evangelization, received an Honorable mention for his book, Understanding the Hillbilly Thomist, in which he explores the narrative art of acclaimed writer Flannery O’Connor.
The national CMA awards recognize the work of individuals and organizations that present Catholic teachings, values, and stories in a compelling and authentic manner. The awards are part of the CMA’s annual conference, which took place in Atlanta in June.
