The Father Michael Wittman Ozanam Center food pantry and clothing bank has relocated to the Chambers Community Empowerment Center at 14305 Shaw Avenue in East Cleveland, at the former Chambers Elementary School. FMWOC has been serving individuals and families within and surrounding East Cleveland since 2006.
Open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon, the FMWOC is managed by volunteers and operates with support from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Diocese of Cleveland. It is a registered agency with the Greater Cleveland Food Bank and Hunger Network, and receives community-wide support from fifteen different churches across Cleveland’s eastern suburbs.
The FMWOC complements the services offered to the neighborhood by the Chambers Community Empowerment Center. Ed Leszynski, president of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Board of Directors, says, “We are very pleased to be able to bring our services to Chambers. This new site provides ample parking and easy access to the people we serve, in addition to facilitating the ability to deliver food to the pantry. We are grateful that the Chambers leadership welcomes our ministry, and we look forward to working in conjunction with them to serve those in need.”
The FMWOC will continue to provide free food, produce and clothing to registered individuals and families in its new location. It is one of seven main food pantries of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul that provide emergency food supplies, hot meals and more to food-insecure individuals and families throughout Northeast Ohio.
